Xyrael (talk · contribs) With any online community there is bound to be conflict, but on Wikipedia we are lucky because we realised early on that systems to resolve this would be needed. I believe that I have the patience and skill to help mediate disputes in the community, and would like to serve Wikipedia by doing so as part of the mediation committee. My role as a freenode volunteer involves dispute resolution in the difficult environment of IRC, and I think that through this I have gained insight into the best way to understand and bring conclusions and compromises to disputes on the Internet. I had a nomination to this committee some months ago but it failed due to my lack of experience, which was a fair comment that I've learned from. Due to the fact that I am now an administrator, I see myself as having a good understanding of policy and the community behind me. I have taken flak, and I believe that I've responded appropriately, so I'd love to be able to take the opportunity to use my skills for the good of the project as a mediator. —Xyrael / 22:15, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

This case has now concluded successfully. I have removed it from open tasks and archived it as I can see others have done; please let me know if I've got this wrong somehow.
