I am nominating Wizardman to join the Mediation Committee. Wizardman has been on Wikipedia for two years, and has been an administrator for more than one (RfA). With over 34,000 edits, he has written 3 good articles as well as 25 articles featured in 'Did you know?'.

Within dispute resolution, Wizardman has mediated a number of cases for the Mediation Cabal. However, unfortunately, many cannot be located due to reshuffles and the fact they were from either 2006 or early 2007; however, one brilliant example can be found at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-06-26 List of Mario series enemies (see accompanying discussion). In addition, he frequently contributes thoughtfully to discussions as an informal opinion, and always shows the intent to help resolve the dispute with his comments.

Wizardman's mediation to date of Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Second Amendment to the United States Constitution has been top-shelf, and I have absolutely no hesitation in nominating him to become a member of the Committee. Wizardman is a thoughtful, kind, helpful and intelligent user who I feel would be a great asset to the Mediation Committee.

• What are the core principles of Mediation Committee mediation?
  • In short, the core principles are that mediation is a voluntary procedure in which all parties work toward establishing a consensus/compromise. The core principle of being a mediator is to be a neutral party to help foster a compromise between all parties. Wizardman 02:51, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
• Discussions during formal mediation are privileged; they cannot be used against the parties in later proceedings (e.g. RfArb/RfC). Why is that important?
  • By cutting off the idea or future retribution, the participants don't have to be worried about sharing their opinions as to what needs to be done. If someone's worried about future opposition at an rfar based on comments they make here, then we're not getting the full picture of what really needs to be done. Wizardman 02:51, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
• What prior experience do you have in resolving disputes on Wikipedia? Please provide links, and how will these experiences help you to be an effective Committee member?
  • The main experience I have was, as Daniel mentioned above. I mediated a few MedCab cases, and if i could remember the names of them I would bring them up. The only one I remember off the top of my head was the List of Mario Series enemies above, one of the few bright spots in the Episodes and Characters war. I have provided some third opinions as well. This experience would help me be an effective committee member since it's helped me learn patience with other users, that it can take a while to formulate a consensus that all parties are satisfied with. It's also helped me look at past histories of consensus attempts that have been done in the past, to see where this dispute has been in an attempt to avoid going down that route again.
