[edit] What's going on?

Dispute about whether the image of the highway sign banning Muslims from entering Mecca should be included.

[edit] What would you like to change about that?

A consensus to include or not include the image on the page

[edit] Mediator notes

Mediation? Perhaps a Request for Comment would be a better venue for this. I saw on the talk page a 3O was suggested, but, correct, 3O is genereally when there are two parties only. A Request for Comment would bring outside, hopefully uninvolved opinion, and try to form a better consensus. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 02:24, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I did an RFC about two months ago [1], which brought in a enough keep the image votes to tie with the delete votes, however the dispute continues. Yahel Guhan 03:42, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Don't you mean it bans non-Muslims from entering? In any case, Portals are very similar to Categories (they in fact include them.) Since there are no direct guidelines for Portals, then a look through the guidelines for Categories might help solve disputes. Check WP:CAT—specifically guidelines 7 and 8. Some places are "holy ground" and only permit members of that religion to enter, however those properties are typically "owned" by the religion or one of their respective "churches", and any location that is owned may have restricted access.

For example, fraternity XYZ at University XYZ refuses access to the frat house from all non-XYZ members. Are they being discriminating to non XYZ members?
