[edit] Request Information
- Request made by: Adambro 14:32, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- User:Captain scarlet
- Who's involved?
- Captain scarlet and Adambro
- What's going on?
- I recently posted a message on User talk:Captain scarlet (diff) with a query with regards to an edit he made to Meadowhall, in which he reverted an edit which had added an improved version of a photo (diff). Following this, he replaced his poorer image with an improved version (see the file history of Image:Meadowhall_Shopping_Centre_-_The_Oasis_07-04.jpg).
- He refused to answer my concerns about his contributions (archived version of User talk:Captain scarlet).
- Whilst the discussion was ongoing, he added a link from his userpage to my contributions (diff).
- On 14 March, I asked him to clarify the reason for the link (diff) and he stated he had concerns about my edits. I asked him to explain these but he was unable to. See archived version of User talk:Captain scarlet
- On the 17 March, having not had any answer as to why he had the link to my contributions on his userpage, I removed the link. The edit summary I used was "Removed link to my contributions which could mislead other editors into thinking Captain scarlet has concerns about my edits. I've asked him about this and he's been unable to explain any concerns".
- As I said in my edit summary, I believe the link to be an attempt to mislead other editors into thinking that Captain scarlet has concerns about my contributions, just because I attempted to ask him about some concerns I had. I'd suggest that this is an unfair attempt to discredit my contributions, despite him been unable to offer any advice as to in what way my edits concern him. I also feel that such a public declaration is unnecessary, even if he did have any concerns.
- He has since reverted my removal of the link (diff).
- What would you like to change about that?
- I would like Captain scarlet to remove the link from his user page and to be more prepared to answer queries about his edits from other users in future.
- Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
- Open is fine, I can be contacted via my talk page.

[edit] Discussion
While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.
- I have decided that proceeding with this action is unlikely to benefit either myself or Captain scarlet, and ultimately Wikipedia. As such, I wish to withdraw my request and intend to attempt to avoid getting involved in issues involving Captain scarlet. I do however, recognise our common interests will make this difficult and where I have to work with Captain scarlet, I will try to ensure my communications are clear so as to prevent any future misunderstandings.
- I am going to therefore accept the link to my contributions on Captain scarlet's userpage, despite my opinion that there are questionable motives for the link. Adambro 09:00, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
