Please observe Wikipedia:Etiquette and Talk Page Etiquette in disputes. [edit] Request Information
- Request made by: bov 22:39, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Where is the issue taking place?
- ... Jim Hoffman
- Who's involved?
- ... User:Tom harrison and myself, User:Bov.
- What's going on?
- ... Tom harrison insists on reposting a "template" about 9/11 conspiracy theorists to Jim Hoffman's biography page. The purpose of the template appears to be to discredit anyone questioning the official version of events on 9/11 by mixing people on there who are not researchers or activists, but who promote, for example, UFO stories, while also happening to feature 9/11 articles from time to time. Jim Hoffman has worked to expose the many false claims within the work of 9/11 researchers[1], so it is an outrage to post a UFO researcher on his BIOGRAPHY page. It is simple discrediting by association.
- What would you like to change about that?
- ... Remove the template from Hoffman's page. Request the basic right for my opinion on the template to be allowed - it never has been - not just reverted each time.
- Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
- ... I have no preference. You can email me from my page.
[edit] Mediator response
Has this been discussed on the talk page or is there a section I missed? -- Selmo (talk) 01:47, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- Is this case still active or can I close it? --Ideogram 21:34, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Closing. --Ideogram 01:18, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, the templates are still being pasted onto Hoffman's page over and over and removed over and over. I'm not sure why you would not contact the person who posted the complaint about closing it. The update is that currently the templates are up for deletion. It is likely that one of them will stay and one will go. But the issue of the constant reposting of the template onto Hoffman's page remains an issue. bov 18:59, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

- The fact that one of the participants was not aware there was a mediation is a bad sign. You need to get the two sides talking to each other. --Ideogram 04:37, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

- I've closed it.
[edit] Compromise offers
This section is for listing and discussing compromise offers.
- At this point it seems like we could just use the article talk page. Whoever wants to could comment there, or we could see if there is a consensus, or maybe solicit a third opinion. We should at least bring in everyone who edits the page. It seems like any agreement that is only between me and Bov would not be very useful. Please move my comment if it belongs somewhere else. [edit] Discussion
While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.
- Please let me know if this is active, or is going to be. Tom Harrison Talk 02:48, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think so. -- Selmo (talk) 03:30, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
