[edit] Request Information

Where is the issue taking place? Steam (band)

Who's involved?
...Anonymous user STLOUCS (today), anonymous user Calamity Jane (yesterday), etc. and myself User:Fortheloveofhampsters
What's going on?

STLOUCS has reverted 3 times over the past 24 hours. I have worked on the article clarifying content (in particular, making the clear who the lead singer of the song "Na Na Hey Hey" was, and adding references.) STLOUCS has removed my references and rewritten the article. STLOUCS version, as it stands now, is poorly written, and, although it does now indicate that DeCarlo is the lead singer, it is written in such a way that it could be easily misunderstood. STLOUCS has added a reference which is probably a copyright violation. I believe STLOUCS is the same as the editor(s) who was (were) supporting the now deleted article Greg Bravo (Gary Scott). This article implied that Bravo was the lead singer of the No. 1 pop single "Na Na Hey Hey" in 1969. This is a hoax and the supporting editor(s) were unable to provide any support for the claim (other than Bravo's own websites). The editor(s) were blocked for vandalism and were personally attacking the mediator, other editors and myself.

...
What would you like to change about that?

I believe I had developed a well-written and clearly documented article. I think that STLOUCS is removing any clear statements of who the lead singer was and all of my references that also refer to the real lead singer. I believe that STLOUCS is a sockpuppet for the banned editors from the Greg Bravo article and are attempting to keep the Steam article nebulous on the issue of the lead singer. I'm not sure where to turn, but thought I would start at the most informal mediation.

[edit] Mediator response

Hello, there. I am Cowman109Talk and I have volunteered to help mediate this case. I will jump into the discussion at the talk page. Thanks. Cowman109Talk 15:51, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

A compromise has been made and the article rewritten, so I am closing this case. If any further troubles arise, this page will remain on my watchlist. Cowman109Talk 15:35, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

While using the talk page of the article in question to solve a dispute is encouraged to involve a larger audience, feel free to discuss the case below if that is not possible. Other mediators are also encouraged to join in on the discussion as Wikipedia is based on consensus.

Please note that I am not the official mediator, only a helpful bystander :-). The article as it stands focuses mostly on one of the band's songs and not the band itself. The song already has its own article. There was a previous version that focused on the band, but it was self-reverted by another user. CQJ 18:01, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
