I'd propose the article be renamed to either "Medieval French literature" or "French literature in the Middle Ages" to conform with other article titles. "of" sounds like it could be literature written "about" the Middle Ages, and not "in" the Middle Ages.Stbalbach 13:20, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Article scope
The article currently goes from the 10th century to the 15th. This overlaps with the existing and well developed Anglo-Norman literature which covers the 9th to early 13th. These two articles be merged in some way, or at least properly referenced between each other. Stbalbach 13:20, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
I have added a reference. I think the Anglo-Norman article covers very specific issues which would be out of place if it was merged into this article. NYArtsnWords 15:53, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
There's now a fair bit of duplication (or triplication) between this article, Chanson de geste and Matter of France. How desirable is this? What do others think? Also, to justify the cross-reference here, Chanson de geste ought to have a fuller discussion of the origin of the genre than it currently has. Andrew Dalby 20:57, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
I've begun to deal with this (I hope no-one's offended) by rearranging the "Chanson de Geste" section here, and I will now begin to extend the Chanson de geste article. When French words are cited, I have replaced "quotes" with italics: I think this would be a good idea throughout. Andrew Dalby 13:27, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
