[edit] Pronounced ...

Why was this removed?

Given the regional accent, residents of Medford and surrounding communities commonly pronounce the town's name as Medfid" or "Meffa".

I don't know why they do it, but lots of people use this pronunciation. When it was removed, someone said no one says it. That person was incorrect.

[edit] Disagree

People in surrounding cities use the "Meffa" to mock us, but I and all the Medford residents I've asked about this agree: no one within the city actually pronounces it that way.

Everyone in this discussion agrees: "Mehfuh", Boston Online. 129.10.211.72 22:11, 13 February 2007 (UTC), Medford resident since 1988

[edit] Fourth Oldest City?

I'm skeptical of the fourth oldest English settlement claim - as I understand it, Medford was settled because it's on a ford between Boston and Salem. The entry on Salem claims a founding of 1626, and the Medford city web site makes no mention of this claim. How about we change it to "making it one of the oldest English settlements in America?" and drop the references to Jamestown and Plymouth? --Sgorton 16:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Demographics

The first paragraph needs to be redone. The two sentences contradict each other.. it can't be that the majority of the population is Italian, and also the majority is Irish. MrGBug (talk) 20:40, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Medford, Massachusetts logo.png

Image:Medford, Massachusetts logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Muscle Orchard?

I removed the red link in the bulleted list under "points of interest" as I've never heard of this, and am unable to find any reference to it. Supect vandalism, but happy to hear if it's otherwise.Medfordmom (talk) 01:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

A map showing the neighborhoods, highways, rail lines, squares, etc., would be very helpful. -- Beland (talk) 16:05, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
