Mediterranean Bank Network
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Mediterranean Bank Network is a Malta-based partnership between Mediterranean banks. It was established on 28 November 1996 by four banks to encourage inter-regional commercial and business relationships between themselves. Member banks have a virtual presence in all the member countries without having to set up overseas branches, which avoids substantial costs.
To date there are nine banks in the network: Banco Sabadell (Spain) [1], Banco Popolare (Italy) [2], Bank Of Jordan (Jordan) [3], Bank of Valletta (Malta) [4], Banque Internationale Arabe de Tunisie (Tunisia) [5], Commercial International Bank (Egypt) [6], Hellenic Bank (Cyprus) [7], Israel Discount Bank (Israel) [8], and Nova Ljubjanska Banka (Slovenia) [9]
The presidency of the network rotates every two years and is currently held by Banco Popolare, Verona.
