Medina was a borough on the Isle of Wight in England from 1974. It was effectively abolished on April 1, 1995. It was formed by a merger of the boroughs of Newport and Ryde along with the urban district of Cowes, and got its name from an older name for Newport; which has been preserved in the River Medina. It was one of two boroughs on the island - the other was South Wight.
