Medair is a Christian non-governmental organisation (NGO) of humanitarian aid founded in 1988. It is independent of any political, economic or social authority. Its members have to be practicing Christians. Its international headquarters are based in Switzerland. The mission of Medair is to respond to human suffering in emergency and disaster situations by implementing multisectorial relief and rehabilitation projects, in a compassionate and serving attitude inspired by its Christian ethos.

The organisation has obtained the ISO 9001 certification at world wide level for its quality management system.

Medair employs 50 people in Switzerland, United Kingdom, Germany, France and The Netherlands. In the field, 120 full-time expatriates help populations in difficulty, with the support of 1600 local employees. The organisation serves over 2.5 million beneficiaries a year. It operates from its headquarters in Switzerland and currently delivers nine programmes in eight African and Asian countries.

The organisation currently has programs running in Sudan, Uganda, Congo (D.R.), Madagascar, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indonesia. Recent programs have been run in Albania, Angola, Armenia, Bangladesh, Chad, Chechnya, India, Ingushetia, Iraq, Iran, Kenya, Kosovo, Liberia, Mozambique, Ossetia, Rwanda, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
