Mecom Group

Mecom Group plc is a London-based investment company, listed on the Alternative Investment Market in March 2005, specializing in media companies and (as of 2006) operating in Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine and Lithuania.
Mecom was founded in 2000 by the current executive chairman, David Montgomery, a former CEO of the Mirror group and editor of the Sun, News of the World and Today. Most of its titles are regional newspapers. In 2005, the company acquired the Berliner Verlag, publisher of the Berliner Zeitung and the Berliner Kurier. Later it bought Germany's oldest newspaper, the Hamburger Morgenpost, the Dutch Media Groep Limburg and Wegener, and a Norwegian media group consisting of Edda Media, Berlingske Officin and Rzeczpospolita (newspaper).
