Mechanics of materials

Mechanics of materials is a field of study at the boundary of two disciplines, Applied mechanics and Materials Science and Engineering, focussing on relations between the mechanical behavior of materials and their microstructures.

When stress is put to some material it shows some deflection. For examle in a uniaxial experiment for a cyllender made of steel shows lineer strain stress, as steel is an elastic material for short amount of stress its strain stress relationship for small amount of stress is like this: stress = E * strain Where E is the module of elasticity.
