MeatWiki is a software engineer living in the Washington, D.C. area in the United States.
He is in his third decade as a professional software engineer.
His current specialties are: Java, user interfaces (desktop GUI and web-based), database applications programming (primarily SQL), XML technologies, and object-oriented architecture.
Previously, he did a lot of work in the areas of: data comm, protocols, telecom, embedded systems, assembly language, C/C++, and diagnostic/test equipment.
His professional programminmg experience is equally divided among: MS-Windows, Unix, and embedded systems.
These days, most of his work is in Java and web-based technologies, and is thus portable among most platforms. His favorite IDE right now is Eclipse.
He is very into object-oriented design patterns. The first one he ever used was the Bridge design pattern, which he just figured out on his own in 1992 while working on an office middleware project.
At home, he uses an Apple Macintosh running Mac OS X.
Awards include tying for second-place in the J2ME programming contest at JavaOne in 2000.
