"Meadows of Dan" is an instrumental American rock band which marries various genres of music including blues, jazz, funk, reggae, and occasionally techno often through catchy melodies and extended jam sessions. Since the band's formation in 2005, Meadows of Dan has released a wide array of albums including demos, EPs and, most recently, a comprehensive set entitled Third Anniversary Collection. As of 2008 the band has released nine official studio albums, between which many rarities and obscure tracks have fallen.

[edit] History

Meadows of Dan, taking its name from the town in Virginia though formed in Archdale, North Carolina, began in various early forms in 2005 by drummer Trey Liebscher, guitarist and keyboardist Will Huffman, guitarist Cole Liebscher, and bassist CS Key. That same year marked the beginnings of the band's sporadic style of recording and touring, combined in 2006 to mark Meadows of Dan's first live album. Early in their career the band mainly relied on guitar, bass, and drums, but as of 2007's "Born For Fun, Loyal To None" began incorporating a typically densely layered keyboard into many jams.

[edit] Recording Style

Meadows of Dan's recording quality varies from album to album, ranging from early 4-track recordings released independently to relatively low-fi tracks to high-quality studio endeavors which have become increasingly common for the band. They are known to enter the studio and come out with a fresh album after only weeks, days, or even hours. [1]
