McRefugees refers to those who stay in McDonald's fast food restaurant overnight.

In Japan, most McDonald's restaurants are operated around the clock, due to the high unemployment rate and high rent and transportation costs in Japan, many people choose to stay at McDonald's overnight.
Recently, the phenomenon has spread to Hong Kong, in some McDonald's branch shops, it's common to see McRefugees in the shop sleeping or playing video games

Some branch shops in Japan may have a closure during midnight, in order to expel the McRefugees.
