McKee is a common surname of Irish origin. It comes from the Irish language Mac Aoidh. Many people have the last name McKee, and many things have been named after these people. It also is a common anglicization of the Scottish name, though the most common English spelling for that clan is MacKay. McKee is an accepted spelling for that clan name according to the Clan society & "Clans of the Highlands of Scotland" by Thomas Smibert, 1850
