In 2005, Dell Computer opened a telephone computer service center in McGregor. It occupies the former headquarters of Rocketdyne, which was part of large facility that manufactured solid fuel rockets for the military.
During World War II, a bomb factory and storage facility were built in McGregor. Thousands of acres of farmland were purchased by the War Department. After the war, this property was divided between Rocketdyne and Texas A&M for use as an agricultural research facility.
The McGregor Independent School District provides the schools for the area. It has one high school, which has been classified under the Texas University Interscholastic League as either AA or AAA, depending on the enrollment. In general the high school enrollment has included approximately 300 students. McLennan Community College also operates a facility in McGregor in the old elementary school.
The McGregor High School mascot is the bulldog and its colors are black and gold.
Further information about McGregor can be found through the McGregor Mirror, a weekly newspaper, owned by the Mooney family.
[edit] Demographics
The edit made 17:20, 5 September 2006 by 206.132.137.97 to the demographic data was made without citations and massively changes the previously reported demographics.
I believe the older demographic data to be more accurate, so pending further edits with citations demonstrating that the population is ".01% White [...] Hispanic or Latino of any race were 99.99%" I'm making a minor revert back to the old values. Occasional Reader 14:50, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
