I am a marine biologist who has specialized in snapping shrimp taxonomy, behavior, ecology, and biogeography since 1990. Most of my published work is on the taxonomy and systematics of Alpheus, including the descriptions of two new species.

My contributions to Wikipedia generally involve adding or correcting scientific content, leaving the page aesthetics to the more experienced Wikipedia editors. I have extensively revised the Family Alpheidae page (though it is still a work in progress), and am currently working of the Genus Alpheus page. At this time, I am busy adding species to this page (I'm still short by at least 60), and plan to add more text content with appropriate references. When I reach an "appropriate stopping point", I will do similar work on pages for the Genus Synalpheus and for other snapping shrimp genera.
