"Maze" is a song by the band Phish which appeared on the 1993 studio album Rift and was frequently featured in live performance. It was debuted on March 6, 1992 at Portsmouth, New Hampshire and was last performed on August 12, 2004 in Camden, New Jersey.
The lyrics are a first-person narrative describing a dreamlike sequence in which the narrator is lost in a maze and is being taunted by external onlookers. In the key of G minor, the music establishes and maintains a frantic pace throughout. Traditionally, performances of "Maze" featured a lengthy organ solo following the song's verses, which was in turn followed by a climactic guitar solo in the dominant key. "Maze" concludes with a partial recapitulation of the refrain.
"Maze" was one of Phish's most frequently performed high-energy warhorses throughout the 1990s.
