Mayank is a Hindu word which means moon. In India, Mayank is a fairly common name. Some examples are: MAYANK TALWAR, MAYANK JUYAL

The moon holds a great significance in Hinduism and Indian culture. Traditional Hindu calenders were based on lunar cycles as opposed to solar ones. The moon also holds a religious value such as the religious day of Karwa-Chouth, when a wife keeps a full day's fast for her husband's long life and well being and does not breaks the fast until after the appearance of the moon.
