The Mayakoba Classic at Riviera Maya is a PGA Tour golf tournament which was played for the first time in the week of February 19-25 2007. It is the first PGA Tour event to be played in Mexico. It is an alternate event played the same week as the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, and a counting event for the FedEx Cup, but like other alternate events it will only count for half points. In 2008 the prize fund was US$3.5 million (with a first prize of US$630,000), making it the richest golf tournament in Mexico.[1]
