[edit] Your link additions to Deadliest Catch

I have removed your link additions to Deadliest Catch again per the guidelines at Wikipedia:External links#Links normally to be avoided and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Blogs links are generally not added to Wikipedia unless the blog is run by a recognized authority on the topic. For example, if Thom Beers were to have a blog about Deadliest Catch, then the blog link would be relevant. As for your edit summary comment that Star Trek and American Idol have fansite links, you will see that they do not. All of the American Idol links are from official sources or third parties that are not blogs.

Your editing history of creating an account and 4 minutes later adding back in links that were adding by another user who entire editing history is related to the same set of links and has a fairly obvious conflict of interest, makes me believe that you are somehow related. Even if you are not related, the reasons I have stated above preclude the inclusion of the blog into the article. I would happy to discuss this with you, but please do not re-add the link. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo 06:45, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Re your message: While your site is quite extensive, the overriding problem with you adding the link is that you have conflict of interest as the owner of the site. You should not add the link yourself. You're welcome to open a discussion on Talk:Deadliest Catch about linking your site. If there is a consensus of neutral and independent editors that your blog is worth including it could be linked.
The issue is not you are or are not selling anything. Merely being a commercial site does not preclude linking on Wikipedia (unless it violates the spamming guideline, of course). As for listing your blog because there is no official blog, the lack of an official blog does not mean that your blog can "take its place" so to speak as there is no "reserved" (for lack of a better word) spot for blogs. Listing your blog under "See Also" would not be appropriate as that section is usually for inter-wiki links, not external links.
On a side note, the Votefortheworst.com site on American Idol is apparently a well-known and media-cited website. It actually has it's own article Votefortheworst.com. -- Gogo Dodo 23:31, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
