In 2001, the Maha Kumbh Mela was a celebration of roughly 70 million Hindu faithful on the banks of the Ganges in Allahabad, India. A satellite photo of the temporary campgrounds can be found here. The hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia also draws millions of Muslim faithful each year and has been doing so for centuries.
