Max Maxfield

Max Maxfield (born 1945) is the Republican secretary of state in the U.S. state of Wyoming. He is also the ex officio lieutenant governor.
A native of Janesville, Wisconsin, Maxfield graduated from Janesville High School in 1963. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Maxfield was previously a YMCA director, director of the Wyoming Recreation Commission, and the first appointed director of the Wyoming Department of Commerce. Maxfield was also the executive director of the Wyoming Make-A-Wish Foundation and a financial consultant for nonprofit agencies in and outside Wyoming. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.
He was elected State Auditor in 1998 and re-elected in 2002. He was elected secretary of state in 2006.
Maxfield and his wife, Gayla, a clinical social worker, have four adult children and two grandchildren. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cheyenne.
