[edit] Smithy restored
The old smithy closed 13 years ago and re-opened, after four years of restoration, in September 2007[1] In addition to the smith, there are workshops let to a wood-turner and a weaver.
[edit] The Owlman of Mawnan
Since 1976 a small number of people have reported seeing a strange bird-like creature in and around the woods surrounding Mawnan Old Church. The Owlman, as the creature has become known to cryptozoologists and the popular press[2].was last reported in 1995 and has been the subject to a number of theories explaining the sightings including biological, paranormal and psychological theories.
According to most witnesses[3]. the creature, or entity if paranormal theories are to be believed, is similar in shape to that of an owl around five feet tall with silver-grey and black feathers, red eyes and black 'toes' rather than talons [4].
