[edit] History & Name Changes

Maurice was founded in 2001 by Jean Paul Maurice (Guitar/Vocals) and Connor Waddell (Drums). Though the band had previous name changes and members, with the addition of Simon Margetts (Piano/Vocals), the band cemented it's lineup and name in 2002. The current line-up of the band includes Aidan Knight (Bass/Vocals) and Joshua Van Leeuwen (also known as Joshua Sparrow) of the band Counting Heartbeats. Previous incarnations of the band include the following titles: Callum, Jobe, Carpet, and The Press.

A few facts about the members musical upbringing:

- All four band members graduated from Victoria High School in Victoria, BC
- Simon Margetts' previous band, No Recess, was a project of Jordan Robson Cramer from Sunset Rubdown
- Jean Paul and Aidan both cover Theset (Jean Paul's recorded version of Lightening Words)

[edit] Catching David Foster's Interest

On December 22, 2005, the Vancouver Sun published an article titled "Canadian Up-and-Comers to watch in 2006", Mentioning that Maurice would be working with David Foster on their forthcoming debut album. Recently, the band has confirmed Mr. Foster's involvement with the project on the Maurice Myspace Page

"We are going down to L.A. to start recording our first album for 143/Warner Bros. Records! the recording will see us down there for about 2 months(72 days) and working with producers Matt Hyde (No Doubt, Sum 41, Porno for Pyros) and David Foster. We will be working out of Matt's studio mostly, Sunset Lodge, but also Sound city studios, which as played host to such bands as Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana, and Rage Against the Machine. We are so excited to have this amazing opportunity, and finally shake the demons off and release an album. (Album release is pegged for early 2008)."

The album is set to be released on 143 Records/Warner Bros. Records.
