Maumelle is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States and a suburb of Little Rock. Founded by Jess Odom with federal assistance from the Urban Growth and New Community Development Act, it is an affluent master-planned community. According to 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city was 14,318.[1] However, a special 2006 census conducted by the Census Bureau found 15,115 people in Maumelle (March 9, 2006). Maumelle is northwest of Little Rock, bordering the opposite shore of the Arkansas River, and is part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-AR Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Maumelle is located at (34.853745, -92.406551)[2].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.3 square miles (24.0 km²), of which, 8.8 square miles (22.8 km²) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.2 km²) of it (5.07%) is water.

As of the Census[3] of 2000, there were 10,557 people, 4,128 households, and 3,174 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,199.3 people per square mile (463.2/km²). There were 4,294 housing units at an average density of 487.8/sq mi (188.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.45% White, 4.89% Black or African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. 1.77% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Maumelle was the best educated city in Arkansas in the Census, proportionately, with 51.7% of adult residents (25 and older) holding an associate degree or higher, and 45.7% of adults possessing a baccalaureate degree or higher. Maumelle also had the highest percentage of adults working in management or professional occupations in Arkansas (54.5%).
The civilian unemployment rate was 1.2%.
There were 4,128 households out of which 39.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.8% were married couples living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% were non-families. 19.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 35.2% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.9 males.
The median household income in the city was $65,534, and the median family income was $71,826 (both were the highest in Arkansas). Males had a median income of $50,220 versus $35,461 for females. The per capita income for the city was $30,013. About 1.3% of families and 2.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.7% of those under age 18 and 15.2% of those age 65 or over.
The home ownership rate (owner-occupied housing units to total units) was 78.7%.

Water and sewer service are both provided by Maumelle Suburban Improvement District No. 500, popularly known as Maumelle Water Management, which traces its history back to 1970 and operates independently of the city council. The utility is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners. Drinking water in Maumelle is treated ground water from the Alluvial Aquifer.
