How is it possible that the first ever free online book was released in 2004, titled "Hover Car Racer" and was by this author? --Phil Harnish (Info | Talk) 15:11, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

You want to suggest an earlier example? I've never heard of any. Tyrhinis 16:42, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
There is no easy way to find that information. Unfortunately, Wikipedia is just the source to turn to. See Wikipedia:Verifiability. Though, I will do some googling around to see what turns up. I realize this case is specifically referring to an author releasing his own work, but websites like Project Gutenberg have been around for a long time. Wouldn't it also be possible to find countless instances where authors have released work online? What constitutes a "book"? Here is an example someone pointed out to me as well: The Cathedral and the Bazaar. --Phil Harnish (Info | Talk) 21:27, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes, you can definitely find Hover Car Racer in PDF format on the 'Net. Matthew Reilly uploaded to his website for his fans to read. It's perfectly legal since Mathew Reilly himself uploaded it.

[edit] For the record

Matthew Reilly is one of my favourite authors, up there with Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Victor Hugo. I'm not kidding - his books are the fastest paced books I've ever read and I enjoy them thoroughly!

Matthew, if you ever read this, please keep pumping them out! - Ta bu shi da yu 15:38, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

I'll make this simple. Please this isn't a shout box. This isn't a fansite, take your comments somewhere else.

[edit] Rumours

I just deleted this part...

"It is rumoured that Shane Schofield (from Ice Station, Area 7, Scarecrow and Hell Island),
will meet with Jack West, Jr. (from Seven Ancient Wonders) in future Reilly books."

I read up on the MR forums alot, and I've never heard from an MR interview or something like that about a crossover. I don't think MR can write about them as a small part, and they are two big to have in the same story.

But put it back in if I'm wrong.Columnmn 04:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Col

[edit] Suggestion

Perhaps it should be mentioned that his trailer was uniquely impressive in that it involved advanced and expensive special effects of an alien. Apparently the movie companies were used to receiving plain footage of people just doing simple acting. From the top of my head I think all this information was available from one of the "interviews" in the back of one of his books, so it could be sourced from that.

Also, this looks like a typo with handling a link: "Matthew Reilly has announced on his [www.thepresidian.net/ fansite] during his..." Cyanara 02:50, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

I think it was in one of MR's journals, but its not important. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.67.111.22 (talk) 15:05, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Six Ancient Stones?

Is it absolutely confirmed that he is even writing the book? Is it possible a user might be using his account on that fan-forum to make up a rumour? It's just that there's been nothing on his website or in any interviews about a new novel, and Six Ancient Stones sounds like a pretty silly title for a book. Some conformation that can be verified to be Matthew Reilly would be nice. Bronzey 12:15, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

In the past, the information given there by Matthew has been reliable, the title is 6 Sacred Stones, not ancient. Also, seeing his website is only updated once every few months, as opposed to the potential regularity of a fansite, so I wouldn't lose too much sleep just yet, especially if it's stated that it isn't yet confirmed. He has leaked titles of previous works in the past before official announcments, or other news etc. BradK 13:09, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
He's just announced on his blog (3rd Jan) that it is indeed happening and that is the title. 86.138.15.127 14:22, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the book has already been printed out and released in bookstores in Australia.

[edit] Website

Does anyone now what is happening with the website at the moment it's just weird, hopefully it'll be fixed soon --124.177.97.55 13:06, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Judging by the fact it hasn't been updated in ages, I'd say it's shut down or Matthew has forgotten it exists :P. It links to a piano player now, so I don't know what's happening. Bronzey 05:05, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
There is a note at The Presidan 'There has been a technical error of some description. Matthew and Roy are working on mending the issue'. The MR site is also 404ing as of 5 dec. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.87.64.140 (talk) 11:10, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
Site fixed as of 6 dec

[edit] School

I am going to change the school reference to something non-specific for now because people keep changing from one of two schools. until someone can show a reference saying where he went to high school, please leave it as not mentioned BradK 13:28, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

In the interview at the end of Scarecrow, he says that he went to "St Aloysius' College". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.170.40.121 (talk) 09:38, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Change of Page Name

Since Matthew Reilly redirects to Matthew Reilly (writer), shouldn't we change the page name? There is no other Matthew Reilly on Wikipedia.
