I think we should be careful about loading in from the 1911 Brittanica such phrases as "Like Fogazzaro's, her speech is too often the popular speech of her particular province, in description as well as in dialogue." That is their point of view. Serao was a writer of realist prose and concentrated much of her energies on the problems of Naples, the language of which is quite distinct in Italy. It is NOT--in my view--a defect in her writing. If no one objects within the next week or so, I'll rewrite the last paragraph and "de-Brittanicize" it. Jeffmatt 07:15, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
