[edit] Matariki/Mātāriki

I think the title of this page should have macrons, Mātāriki, as the Reed Māori dictionary defines that as the Pleiades stars (also micro, minuscule); but I’m not sure about Matariki/Mātāriki for the Māori new year: it would make sense to have macrons, but I can’t find anything else online using them. Anyone with more knowledge of Māori? Barefootguru 19:55, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Nope, it doesn't have macrons. See the Māori Language Commission link - they are the authority for macron use and there are none on their site. Despite what the Reed Dict may say, it is pronounced with short vowels Kahuroa 10:42, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
