Matthew Moseley

Matthew L. Moseley (born May 12, 1967 in New Orleans, LA) is a communications and media consultant living in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Kristin, a water lawyer, and son Charlie. He is currently the spokesman for Democratic Congressional Candidate Joan Fitz-Gerald [1].
He is best known for his work with Hunter S. Thompson on the campaign [2] to free Lisl Auman [3] from prison [4] and was recognized in Vanity Fair for his role in the effort. Upon Hunter's death Matt became the Owl Farm spokesman [5], and was hired by Johnny Depp [6] [7] as the communications director for the memorial service when the Hunter’s ashes were shot out of a 153-foot-tall gonzo fist at Owl Farm in Woody Creek, Colorado.[8]

He is featured in two documentaries by Wayne Ewing: "When I Die" about Hunter S. Thompson's funeral and "Fear and Loathing in Denver" about the Lisl Auman case. He is described in Anita Thompson's book, The Gonzo Way (Fulcrum) as an "energetic young public relations expert."

Matthew’s communications background includes being a senior associate at GBSM (a public affairs firm in Denver), communications director at the Colorado State Capitol for the Senate Democrats under President Joan Fitz-Gerald, press officer for the USOC in Athens at the 2004 Olympic Games[9], assistant press secretary for the White House for the G7 Summit in Denver, and national field director at “Rock the Vote” [10] in Los Angeles. He has been actively involved in many political campaigns. He was a research assistant for Megatrends author John Naisbitt in Telluride, Colorado. After college he worked at Commander's Palace restaurant with chef Emeril Lagasse. He has a master's in public policy from the University of Colorado and graduated from Louisiana Tech University in economics.

Matt made the first swimming descent of the Colorado River through Canyonlands - a distance of 47.5 miles in 16 hours 50 minutes.[11]. His swim was among the 10 biggest adventure moments of 2006 according to the Rocky Mountain News. [12]
