Matthew McLauchlin

Matthew McLauchlin is the Canadian federal NDP candidate who ran in the riding of Jeanne-Le Ber in Montreal, Quebec in the 2006 election. He is openly gay and is also an avid enthusiast of the Montreal Metro. He holds a B.A. in linguistics from McGill University, and is the former Jeanne-Le Ber NDP riding association president. He is an Esperantist, and has translated much from English to the international language.[1]
McLauchlin has run in 3 federal elections:
- Canadian federal election, 2000: Received 1,003 votes in the riding of Verdun—Saint-Henri—Saint-Paul—Pointe Saint-Charles. Finished 5th of 9 candidates. Winner: Raymond Lavigne of the Liberal Party of Canada.
- By-election, May 13, 2003: Received 635 votes in the same riding. Finished 4th of 6 candidates. Winner: Liza Frulla, Liberal Party of Canada.
- Canadian federal election, 2006: Received 4,621 votes in the riding of Jeanne-Le Ber. Finished 4th of 5 candidates. Winner: Thierry St-Cyr, Bloc Québécois.
