Matt Walton is an American actor who has appeared on stage and in television as well as film.

[edit] Early life

Born and raised in rural New Jersey, Matt Walton's father (a lawyer) and mother encouraged his creativity from a very young age. Walton's grade school extra-curricular activities included art classes and community theater in addition to baseball, football, and soccer teams. In high school, Walton participated in student government, creative writing, lacrosse, debate, and film-making. He won awards as a visual artist.

At age 17, Walton was granted a scholarship to a young actors training program just outside of New York City, and soon thereafter earned a scholarship to the Boston Conservatory. While earning his BFA in Theater, Walton co-founded the Conservatory’s first newspaper, and also performed in and directed dozens of plays and films. He began professional full time acting at 19.

Walton returned to New York City to debut Off Broadway starring as Berger in the 30th Anniversary Production of Hair in 1997, and would later reprise the role back in Boston and at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, NY. This would lead to other Off-Broadway roles: William Hanes in the American premier of The Tailor Made Man; eventually creating the roles of Sonny in the premier of The Sweepers, Oedipus in We're All Dead, Thomas Jefferson in Rush's Dream, the Gorilla Man in Gorilla Man; leads in the revivals of Beirut, Boy's Life, and A Few Good Men.

Walton has appeared on several television shows, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2005 and a six-month recurring role on All My Children in 2006 as the villainous Terry McDermott.

Walton’s film credits include starring roles in 200 American (2003), Holier Than Thou - a cult classic (2007). He has had supporting roles in films such as Flannel Pajamas. He will star and serve as associate producer in the upcoming films Favorite Son and Montclair.

Walton is also an accomplished voice actor. He served as narrator for the series Backspin on Bravo and A&E Network’s Race to the Red Carpet as well as some episodes of Biography. Walton has provided the voice for the Oxygen Network, the Independent Film Channel, MagRack, and dozens of commercials and industrials. Walton can be heard reading the audiobooks of Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Spider-Man 2, and Danielle Steel’s Second Chance.
