From 1983-89 Matt Goodwin made a total of 108 games for the Penrith Panthers and in the process scoring a total of 10 tries for the club. A tough forward who showed loyalty to the Panthers, Goodwin was voted as Penrith 'Player of the Year' in 1987. But in 1990, Matt Goodwin was cut by the Panthers coach Ron Willey. Later that year Goodwin signed for the Parramatta Eels. Unfortunately for Goodwin he was injured while playing for the Eels and was subsequently released from his contract with the Eels in 1991. He made 24 appearances for the club in two years, scoring no points. After being released by the Eels in the 1991 season, Goodwin was snapped up by South Sydney Rabbitohs in 1992. But once again he was injured but this time it was more serious, a chronic shoulder injury which effectively ended his career. He made only six appearances for the Souths club without scoring any points. In 2007 he made a comeback by signing a multi million dollar deal with the Mattawan Wildcats to play point guard in a much competitive basketball league called the SMAC. Goodwin averaged 15 points per game and made the first team all conference team, along with top ten player and making 2nd team all area for mens class A and B. His career is leading him to adrian college where he is going to play for 4 yrs.
