Matt Doherty Jr. is a former Northern Irish footballer. He is the son of Matt Doherty Sr., who also played football.

Doherty played with Derry and District League teams, Don Bosco's F.C. and Foyle Harps Y.F.C. in his youth before signing for Derry City FC in the Irish League between 1956 and 1960. He returned to the club in 1963 and stayed there until 1970. Doherty also managed to win a 'B' international cap for Northern Ireland.
