Matt Britner (born April 17, 1985) [1] is a Canadian professional soccer player from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Britner was the 2007 Ivy League Player of The Year. He appeared in 54 games during his four year career, starting 53 on defense, and scoring three goals and adding one assist in his career. Matt earned NSCAA All-Northeast Region honors as a senior and was a two-time All-Ivy selection (2005 and 2007). He was team captain in both 2005 and 2007. Matt missed the entire 2004 season with a left anterior cruciate ligament injury, and all but two games of the 2006 season with right ACL tear.
During his college career Britner also played for the Rhode Island Stingrays in the USL Premier Development League. Also played for the Cole Harbour Soccer Club from 1997-99, the Nova Scotia Provincial Teams from 1998-2002, the Nova Scotia Canada Games Teams from 1999-01, the Maritime All-Star Teams from 1999-01 and the Halifax King of Donair/Athens United Senior Team from 2001-03.

After playing at Brown University for four years, he was drafted and signed by the New England Revolution in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

Britner entered Canada’s National Team program in 1999 at the Under-16 level, and was a member of Canada’s 2005 Under-20 World Cup squad. He is a current member of Canada’s 2008 Under-23 player pool.
