Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences

The Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS) is a program at Northwestern University. Founded in 19781, the program "enables a select group of high ability students to combine the study of social sciences with training in formal analytical methods. MMSS provides excellent preparation for graduate study in social or managerial sciences, as well as for other careers that require both quantitative skills and a solid background in social sciences." According to the October 2006 Alumni News Letter, the Average SAT score was 765 and 694 for math and verbal respectively. Most students double major in economics with many entering top PHD programs or entering careers in investment banking and management consulting.
