Description

Photographic postcard of Mathilde Felixovna Kschessinskaya (1872-1971), Prima ballerina assoluta of the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatres. She is costumed for the Pandéros from choreographer Marius Petipa (1811-1910) and composer Alexander Glazunov (1865-1936) ballet Raymonda, circa 1900.

The photograph was taken by an unknown photographer at the photography studio of the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre. I (MrLopez2681) scanned the photo from the book The Great Russian Dancers by Gennady Smakov. Knapf. 1984.

Circa October 1898 (the ballet The Pharaoh's Daughter was presented in a revival by Marius Petipa on November 2 (O.S. October 21), 1898 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre, mounted especially for Kschessinskaya.)
