[edit] Summary

This proposal would place restrictions of mass moves of pages.

[edit] Rationale

Page moves, more so than most editor functions on Wikipedia have the potential to be very disruptive, and are extremely difficult to clean up.

[edit] Proposal

Any user found to be moving large numbers of articles without due discussion or clearly established policy may be blocked by an administrator for as long as necessary to prevent the inappropriate moving of pages.

Any user found to be moving large numbers of articles against consensus, policy, or established guidelines may also be blocked by an administrator as necessary to prevent the inappropriate page moves.

[edit] Exceptions

  1. Editors reverting page moves contrary to the above are exempt.
  2. Editors correcting obviously incorrect page names (spelling errors, etc) may be exempt, but are expected to refrain from such moves if they are challenged by another users.
