Should the article be Masjid Jamek or Jamek Mosque? Masjid Jamek seems like a more common name. Wai Hong 08:59, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

This is a bit tricky. Normally, WP:NAME#Use English words recommends using English and "place the native transliteration on the first line of the article unless the native form is more commonly recognized by readers than the English form". A Google test (as a rough measurement) shows both English and Malay names frequently used, with the English term's usage outnumbered by the Malay term's usage 1 to 5. For the record, "Masjid" is in fact an Arabic and Malay term for mosques that could be used in English, but under English writing, the name would still "Jamek Masjid", a name unheard of to me. - Two hundred percent 09:31, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
