Master of the Amateurs

The NEC Master of the Amateurs is an amateur golf tournament. The event is an World Amateur Golf Ranking event that is currently ranked 94th on the calendar out of 621 world wide amateur golf events.[1]
The Championship runs seven qualifying events offering the everyday golfer with a handicap not exceeding 12 the chance to qualify for that year's Master of the Amateurs championship.
The Championship is referred to as the amateur version of the The Masters.[citation needed] The championship gives amateur golfers the opportunity to highlight themselves in front of potential sponsors and to test their golfing ability in a four-day championship, on a championship course. Tournament winners are presented with a "Green Jacket".
The 2008 tournament was held 14-17 January 2008 at the Yarra Yarra Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia.
