Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter (MMOFPS) is a sub-category of the massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) Internet computer game genre, which combines first-person shooter-style gameplay with the game design elements that typify the MMOG genre; namely, a persistant world populated by a large number of concurrent players, and in-depth player character progression mechanics [1][2]. Whereas most MMOGs typically feature relatively slow-paced, "turn-based" combat, an MMOFPS requires a high degree of hand-eye coordination and twitch-based skills.
