Mark D. Jenkins is an American writer whose work focuses on global issues. Formerly The Hard Way columnist for Outside magazine, he is now a field staff writer for National Geographic Magazine. His work has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Washington Post, GQ, Playboy, Men's Health, Bicycling, Backpacker and dozens of other publications. He is the author of four books: Off the Map (1992), To Timbuktu (1997), The Hard Way (2002) and A Man's Life (2007).
