Mark McCoy is a legal researcher, student of law and philosophy. Mark McCoy ran as an independent libertarian write-in for the office of Governor of Illinois in 2006. Mark McCoy studies law and philosophy, and advocates the doctrine of natural rights as promoted by others such as John Locke and Thomas Paine. Mark McCoy is also a proponent of civil disobedience and armed rebellion when confronted with coerced obedience and un-delegated authority. Mark McCoy has served as the President of the Metro-East Libertarians and has been active in the promotion of libertarian ideals.

Mark McCoy gives speeches and holds classes on understanding mankind's relationship with government and other institutions; helps to find grounding in the idea of popular sovereignty of the people; and pledging no allegiance to artificial, legal entities that then use blind allegiance and institutionalized ignorance to exercise tyranny over other people.
