                                 Social Worker and Humanitarian

Marian holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Boricua College and a Master Degree from Hunter College’s Graduate School of Social Work. She also completed and Intensive Training on Mental Health from New York University’s Graduate School of Social Work.

Marian has worked in the field of social work for over 15 years providing mental health and case management in the areas of chemical addiction, domestic violence, the criminal justice system, HIV/AIDS, senior citizens, program development and implementation and other special needs populations. Marian have taken an active role on the struggle against women and families affected by the “ Rockefeller Drugs Law” reform and many other social issues that affect seniors and the community at large.

During the attack on the World Trade Center, Ms. Inguanzo worked with the immigrant population victims providing emergency assistance and mental health services to families. She also played a key role in obtaining financial assistance and scholarships from the German Ambassador to the United Nations for the families and children of those who has perished in this tragedy.

Marian has written several articles on her work and has received several awards for her efforts in the community. Marian’s was awarded for an outstanding scholarly research paper on mental health and received the Jacob Goldfein Award. Recently Marian will be feature on “Latina Magazine” March 2005 issue on an article that speak to “Caregiver and Mental Health within the framework of working in a multicultural population.

She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), National Association for Advancement of Colored Persons (NAACP), American Society on Aging (ASA), a member of the Network of Multicultural Aging (NOMA ), member of Lifetime Education and Renewal Network (LEARN) and other professional organizations.
