Mario Benazzi, 1902-97, Italian zoologist at Instituto di Zoologia e Anatomia Comparata Universita di Pisa, who has published on platyhelminths, is honoured in the polychaete name Diurodrilus benazzii Gerlach, 1952 and in the copepod name Colobomatus benazzii Delamare Deboutteville & Nunes Ruivo, 1958, and planarian name Dugesia benazzii, Lepori ,1951 . (Dr. Riccardo Giannuzzi-Savelli kindly provided this information and the photo).
He had numerous (over hundred) publications concerning chromosomal and cytomorphological aspects of platyhelminths especially planarians. Personally, he was a very generous person and supplied and supported other researchers with advice and reprints.
