[edit] Pierre Boucher

The Pierre Boucher with an article in this encyclopedia is not a direct descendant of Marin Boucher. (according to the source I used anyway). Does anyone have a good source for that trivia entry? Thanks! --Stormbay (talk) 21:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

To which specific trivia entry are you referring? As far as the relationship between Marin and Pierre, it is unknown for certain. Pierre was the son of Gaspard Boucher, who arrived in New France the year after Marin and was either Marin's cousin or brother. Pierre was either Marin's nephew or his first cousin once removed. Sources for this information include the Tanguay and Jetté genealogical encyclopediae and Thomas LaForest's 20-volume work, Nos Ancêtres. --Couillaud (talk) 21:52, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I was talking about te section you clarified. That was my question. I was looking at the Dictionary of Canadian Biography on Pierre. Happy editing! --Stormbay (talk) 15:59, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I was hoping that would have caught it, but I wanted to be certain. There's always been a confusion there because Pierre Boucher de Boucherville is the famous member of the family, and Marin had a son named Pierre Boucher dit Pitoche (one of my direct ancestors), who was a contemporary of his well-known relative, though a few years younger and born on Canadian soil. -- Couillaud (talk) 16:25, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
