If I recall my history, the Indians/First Nations knew about the pass and used it for centuries. It was the route for trade from the coast. (Why do you think Coonsah was on the trip with John Frank Stevens to "discover" the pass) I will see if I can touch and actual source N7bsn 01:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pronunciation?
I believe the pronunciation is "Maria's," even though the apostrophe is omitted when writing the name. 66.234.222.96 (talk) 06:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
