Talk:Maria Weston Chapman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a highly suspect article on a well-known figure of the antislavery movement, apparently copied from a source with a great deal of animus towards Maria Weston Chapman. While the historical basics appear correct, the overlay of dislike and ironic comment is not necessary. Jlockard 15:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] References and sources
Two copyright issues might need attention here, though I haven't reviewed the article's provenance and edit history closely enough to be sure. First: This anonymous edit claims that the article is "excerpted" from an unpublished dissertation. This anonymous editor did nothing else to the article, and the claim is entirely unsubstantiated, so I see no reason to credit it. Second: this article is apparently quite closely adapted from the ANB article on Chapman. I haven't checked carefully, but there appears to be little overlap of actual prose -- still, there are a few direct quotations and a lot of overlap of interpretation and synthesis. This might need attention as almost-but-not-quite plagiarism. -- Rbellin|Talk 14:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
